Improved Auto Sort Ingredients!

I have completely revamped the ingredients auto sort code! It’s now nearly flawless, able to handle all sorts of scenarios. One of the bigger issues with metric recipes where the measurement was not separated from the quantity by a space has been fixed. Below you can see that “700ml” now imports correctly rather then splitting it.

The next big improvement comes with dashes and parts of ingredients that are within parentheses that should belong in measurements rather then ingredients. YummySoup! now adds items in that are within parentheses in the measurement column if either followed by a known measurement or if directly followed by the quantity.

Shared Libraries!

Version 1.6.4 took so long in development for one really great feature, the new Shared Library. The Shared Library feature goes beyond any other recipe app on the Mac. With YummySoup! you will be able to place your Shared Library on network shares or locally on your computer. All user accounts and Macs on your network will be able to access the library, even at the same time. Say you take your Macbook on the road and don’t have access to the network share hosting your Library? Not a problem, YummySoup! will just load the most recent copy of the library you opened. Have .Mac? Use “Back to my Mac” to connect to your home network while at a friends house. Best of all this new feature is so simple to setup that anyone can do it.

This new feature is ready for beta testers and though is present within version 1.6.4’s code it is deactivated. Email me at support@hungryseacow.com to beta test this new feature and ready it for version 1.6.5.

Quick Look Styled Image Viewer

Version 1.6.3 adds a new feature styled after the Quick Look feature in Leopard. Just click on any image from a recipe or from the liquor manager to expand it with a cool animation. No more having to use the full screen view to get a closer look at your recipe. This new feature also includes previous and next buttons, just move your mouse over the left or right side of the image to show them. This new feature also has ⌘-1 and ⌘-2 shortcut keys to change the size of the viewer. Check out the video below!

One year anniversary of YummySoup!

I wanted to thank everyone who has helped make YummySoup! the best recipe app on the Mac. So many users have emailed me with suggestions and comments which have contributed so much to YummySoup!. In the past year YummySoup! has evolved considerably and will continue to do so. No other app in this category can compete with the growth that YummySoup! has experienced. 2008 will be a great year for YummySoup!
